Mint - Design System

Helping my team and company scale

Overview

Mint is a set of standardized guidelines, tools, and resources that our team used to create a consistent and cohesive user experiences across our different products. By creating a design system for our app, we helped improve the development process in several ways:

  1. Streamlining the design process: The design system provided a set of pre-approved design elements and patterns, allowing designers to quickly create new user interfaces without starting from scratch. This saved time and reduced the need for extensive design reviews.
  2. Ensuring consistency: Mint helped ensure that all elements of the user interface were consistent with each other, including colours, typography, iconography, and layout. This helped create a cohesive and intuitive user experience, as users will know what to expect and how to navigate the app.
  3. Improving collaboration: Mint provided a common language and set of tools for designers, developers, and other stakeholders to use when discussing and implementing design decisions. This improved communication and collaboration within the team.
  4. Facilitating reuse: Mint allowed designers and developers to reuse components and patterns across different parts of the app, reducing duplication and saving time.

Overall, the design system helped improve the development process by streamlining the design process, ensuring consistency, improving collaboration, and facilitating reuse, ultimately resulting in a better user experience.
